Privacy Policy

Short version: price comparisons are anonymous and need no account. If you subscribe to FairSift Data, we keep the minimum an account requires. We run no third-party trackers, and we never sell anything about you.
What we collect
When you compare prices (no account needed). When you open the FairSift popup on an Amazon or eBay product page, the extension reads the product title and price from that page and sends them to our servers to fetch the comparison. We store the product title, observed prices, and timestamp as a market observation. Observations carry no user identifier — no account, no IP address, and no device ID is ever attached to market data.
Sharing products to FairSift. If you share a product to FairSift from another app (for example, from the Amazon app on Android), we process the shared link and text to run the comparison. Short links are resolved as needed and then discarded — we don't keep a record of what you shared.
On your device only. Your browser keeps a random anonymous ID (and, if you log in, your login token) in its local storage; the extension keeps a similar ID in its own storage. The anonymous ID is sent with requests so the service works without an account, but it is never attached to stored market data — observations stay fully anonymous, as described above.
If you create an account (required for price-drop alerts and the paid FairSift Data dashboard):
- Your email address
- Your password, stored only as a bcrypt hash — we cannot read it
- Your Stripe customer ID and subscription status, so we know whether your plan is active
Price-drop alerts. When you watch a price, we store the watched product, your target price, and your email address so we can notify you when the price drops. This is the only place your account is linked to a specific product. Deleting the watch removes that link. Alert emails are sent through Resend.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Affiliate links. Links to eBay shown by FairSift include our eBay Partner Network campaign ID, and links to Amazon include our Amazon Associates tag. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Contact form. If you write to us through the contact form, we store your name, email address, and message and email them to the FairSift team so we can respond.
What we don't collect
- Your browsing history beyond the product you actively choose to compare
- Location data
- Barcode and photo images — they're sent to eBay's image-search service to run your search and are never stored by FairSift
- Anything via third-party analytics or advertising trackers — we run none, on the site or in the extension
How we use it
- To return your price comparisons
- To send price-drop alerts you've asked for
- To build anonymized market aggregates (trends, demand signals) that power FairSift Data
- To operate paid subscriptions: billing, access control, and support
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers required to run FairSift: hosting (DigitalOcean), payments (Stripe), product data (eBay's API), and transactional email (Resend).
Deletion
You can delete your account and all data tied to it at any time — contact us at the address below and we'll do it, or delete it yourself while logged in via DELETE /api/me. Deletion cancels any active subscription, removes your Stripe customer record, and deletes your account row. Because market observations are fully anonymized, there is nothing in them that can be traced back to you.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of FairSift after a change means you accept it.
